Talon’s Cove/UVU Golf Tournament

We had the opportunity to sponsor one of the holes at Talons Cove last week. It was for a golf tournament put on by Utah Valley University. Alexander’s did all of the printing for the event. Signs, banners, Stickers, etc.


Once again we did a ‘Chip it in, to Win it’ contest. As the golfers were waiting to tee off on their hole, they were able to participate in our game. The goal was to try to chip it through the hole in the Alexander’s banner–if they made it through, their name got entered into a drawing for a giftcard. We also handed out t-shirts, and other goodies. The weather was beautiful, and as you can see from the pictures, the signage an banners turned out great.

More Car Wraps…

We do a lot of Car Wraps and Car Graphics at Alexander’s. Putting the name or images of your business on your car or truck, is a great way to advertise your business while on the go–everywhere you go.

One thing you will notice from these photos, as well as from the images posted in the last blog post on car wraps, is the size of graphic on the vehicle. Inflateables, Barbecue, Food and Fun

We recently had our annual summer barbecue here at Alexander’s. It’s always a fun event, where employees are able to relax, an enjoy some good food.

This year there were 6 or 7 large inflateables for the kids… and some adults :) to play around on. And let’s not forget the balloon animals either, thank you to Suzy for turning each balloon into just about any creature imagineable in order to entertain the kids.

Everyone who came had a great time. As you can see from the following pictures, there were plenty of chances to bounce, slide, run, eat, flip and laugh.

Thanks to Jeff Alexander–our President and owner of the company–for providing the food and inflateables which helped us all have a fun night.

Golf Tournaments

Alexander’s has had the opportunity in the past week, to be the hole sponsor at two golf tournaments taking place in surrounding areas.

The first one was at the Talon Cove course in Saratoga Springs, and the second was at Sleepy Ridge Golf course in Orem.

We had a canopy, and implemented some Large Format Printing to create banners to go along the sides of the canopy.

As part of our set-up, we had a friendly competition going for the Golfer’s. As they waited to golf their turn, they had the chance to ‘Chip it, to win it!’ There was a hole cut through the side of the banner. Each Golfer had 3 chances to try and chip the ball through the hole.

All contestants who succeeded in hitting it through were entered into a drawing for Golf Paraphernalia–golf bag, driver, golf balls, Skycaddie etc.

No one went away empty handed though, even if a ball was not chipped through, golfers were given a granola bar and a t-shirt. Everyone’s a winner at Alexander’s!

Many people were entered into the drawing, and the day was a success.

Utah GOP Convention 2010

In the early part of May, the Utah GOP convention took place in Salt Lake City, at the Salt Palace. Alexander’s was able to play a role in helping that event take place. We printed up most of the backdrops, all the navigation signs on the poles, pull up banners, programs, invitations, etc.

The event was a great success, with a huge turn-out.

Proper File Preparation

The marriage of computer and printer in the past few decades has completely revolutionized the process of getting ideas and images from the human mind onto paper. The average man has been adopted into the family of printers and publishers.

One of the biggest frustrations regularly experienced by printers is customer job files that arrive with numerous design changes, corrections, typos, formatting, and miscellaneious adjustments needed ‘… and by the way we need this printed by this afternoon!’ The ideal solution is for print customers to have, not only a skilled graphic designer on staff or retainer, but one who is experienced with how the various print industry hardware sees and interprets a given file format.

Since that solution is the rare exception, the next best solution is to simply consult with your print vendor staff well in advance of your print project due date so that file type, layout, color schemes, bleed setup, etc. can be resolved before sending your print file at the time you’ve put in your order.

Important Tip:
Usually this type of consultation is free because you are dealing with the sales/marketing department and they are eager to get your business. This type of consultation is his or her way of “adding value.” But if you wait until after you’ve agreed upon a price the bid language usually has a statement to the effect that the quoted price assumes “print ready” files. This is because changes after that point have a real cost of time and skills involved that seriously affect the job flow and timely completion of yours and other customes’ jobs. You probably already know that one of a printers most important products is “timely” completion.
